After winning in the last second of overtime in their previous game, there was no such drama in the Monsters’ contest at Grand Rapids on Dec. 31.

The Griffins dominated, 5-1, ending the Monsters’ seven-game winning streak.

The Griffins scored the first five goals of the game. They kept the Monsters off the scoreboard until 7:15 remaining in the third period, when Mikael Pyyhtia scored on a power play.

Trey Fix-Wolansky and Marcus Bjork assisted on Pyyhtia’s goal. Fix-Wolansky has 19 assists for the season and 98 in his Cleveland career, tying the franchise record.

Pavel Cajan made 33 saves for Cleveland (21-8-1-0).

The Monsters are off until Jan.3, when they visit Toronto.
