Roman Ahcan scored early in the opening period, but the Monsters were subdued by four unanswered tallies at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Dec. 8 en route to a 5-3 setback.
The other goals for the Monsters came in the last three minutes with the game essentially out of reach, with James Malatesta scoring unassisted at 17:44 and Ahcan with his second of the night on a power play at 19:28.
The Monsters will remain in Pennsylvania to take on Hershey on Dec. 9 before returning to Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for back-to-back encounters with Belleville on Dec. 14 and 15.
