TrueNorth Cultural Arts will present a fall concert “Clarion Sounds!” at 7:30 p.m., Oct. 28, at Bay United Methodist Church, 29931 Lake Road in Bay Village, according to a news release.
The concert is a non-ticketed event, but a love offering will be taken, the release said.
The TrueNorth Chorale and Chamber Orchestra, based in Avon Lake, are under the direction of Richard Fortney.
The TrueNorth Chamber Orchestra will feature oboists Meredith Bradley and Kim Weaver, performing Tomaso Albinoni Concerto for Two Oboes, Op. 9, No.3, according to the release.
The Chamber Winds will be featured performing the first two movements of Antonio Dvorak’s Serenade for Winds in D minor, Op. 44; and the Chamber Strings will be featured performing Georg Philipp Teleman’s Concerto for Stings in G Major.
The Chamber Orchestra also will perform the first movement of Louis Spohr’s Grand Nonetto in F Major, Op. 31, and Leonard Bernstein’s Simple Gifts featuring flautist Susan Richardson.
The TrueNorth Chorale will feature percussionist Clarence Barber and pianists Doug Day and Matthew Holtz performing Mack Wilberg’s Dances to Life.
The composition, which is a reflection on the seasons of life, is composed of three choral pieces “Wonder,” “Here I Stand,” and “If Clarions Sound!”
The text first speaks of the wonders of childhood, the music is playful and dance-like, impishness of children; and concludes creating a grand anthem extolling life and the contributions that our lives make to the world.
In addition, the Chorale will be singing John Foley’s “Come to the Water”; René Clausen’s “All the Hath Life” and “Breath Praise Ye the Lord!” and “Set Me as a Seal”; and Larry L. Flemming’s arrangement of “Lord of the Dance.”
