Sheffield Village police are investigating a shooting early Jan. 6 that left a 24-year-old woman dead inside her vehicle.

Authorities did not release the woman’s name by late afternoon Jan. 6.

Police also are looking for James Kimbrough as a person of interest in the shooting at McDonald’s, 5250 Detroit Road, near Abbe Road.

Around 10 a.m., officers had blocked off the entrance to the restaurant.

Paramedics had tried to save the woman’s life before she died from her injuries.

Sheffield Mayor John Hunter said the shooting appeared to result from a domestic situation.

This was not a random shooting, authorities said.

“(Police) have a suspect,” Hunter said. “Everything points to one direction.”

Police said Kimbrough’s vehicle has been recovered, but he remains at large.

Investigators said he had warrants for his arrest in cases unrelated to the McDonald’s shooting.

Anyone with information about Kimbrough’s whereabouts is asked to contact Lt. Aaron Bober of the Sheffield Village police at 440-949-6155.
