A group of moms, alumni and current Wellington High School students will host a Winter “Snowball” to get the community out enjoying each other’s company, while also raising funds for the Wellington High Senior Class Post-Prom, according to a news release.

All of Wellington and neighboring communities are invited to the Winter “Snowball” on Feb. 3 at the Wellington Eagles No. 2051, which is located at 631 S. Main St. in Wellington.

‘“The idea for this ‘Snowball’ came about when my oldest daughter, Sarah Dudziak (Black River High Class of 2018), mentioned she wanted to visit me and see snow again,” said Angela Dudziak, co-director of the Wellington in the release. “Sarah currently lives and works in Los Angeles, but does miss the pretty white flakes of the Northeastern Ohio winters.

“So, when Sarah said we should organize this event … we all jumped on the band wagon.”

Sarah Dudziak is the other director of the event, heading up the marketing and budgeting side, according to the release.

Sisters Grace Dudziak (Wellington High Class of 2020) and Hope Dudziak (Wellington High Class of 2024) were the first to jump, the release said.

“I absolutely love this idea and want it to be something all of Wellington and our surrounding communities will enjoy,” said Hope Dudziak in the release. “My town and my friends around the area have always been so supportive of everything the Class of 2024 is doing, and I think this is an absolute great way for us to have some quality fun together.”

The Winter “Snowball” is open to all ages to attend, but a special invite is toward people in their 20s because some of them graduated from high school during the coronavirus pandemic, according to the release.

“We really want to see those 2020-21 graduates come out for this event,” Sarah Dudziak said in the release. “Class of 2020 never got a Prom, so this event would be such a great way of tying up all those loose ends of how their senior year ended, while catching up and just having a great night out.”

Said Grace Dudziak in the release: “My Class of 2020 was so special. I really would love to see as many of us attend this event as possible. Let’s finally have that official Last Dance.”

Tickets are $25 per person and includes an evening of dancing to the tunes and stylings of Deejay M.A.K., a taco and nacho bar, dessert and coffee station, draft beer, raffles and giveaways, and the culmination of crowning a “Snowball” king and queen at the end of the night, the release said.

A full cash bar will be available throughout the event as well.

The event will take place from 6 to 11 p.m., but tickets are limited and available by pre-sales.
