Crop comments: Avon tops the Crop once again. The Eagles picked up wins over Westlake and Olmsted Falls last week before dropping a road game to Berea-Midpark. The Titans appear to be the SWC favorites as of now. … Elyria defeated North Ridgeville in a big conference game last week and survived an Avon Lake comeback to earn another win. The Pioneers have been playing well to start 2024. … Avon Lake was on a roll heading into the Elyria game, but the Shoremen couldn’t come all the way back in a 61-57 defeat. Their five-game win streak comes to an end. … North Ridgeville has to figure something out after dropping its third game in the past four. The Rangers lost close games to Elyria and Midview. They’re now 5-4 and the schedule doesn’t get easier with Berea-Midpark coming into town. … Lorain needed a big win, and it got one over Bedford. The Titans are now 4-6 and have another tough LEL game on the horizon at Warrensville Heights. … Fairview won its first five games, but dropped two straight to good teams in Cuyahoga Heights and Independence. The Warriors rebounded with a win over Trinity. … Rocky River has continued to play well, also beating Bedford. This comes after an 18-point win over Bay for the Pirates. … After two big wins against Wellington and Open Door, the Brookside Cardinals are back in the Crop. They’re now 8-3 after putting up 95 points against Black River. … Amherst drops down to No. 9 following a home loss to Olmsted Falls. The Comets are an overtime comeback against Keystone away from dropping five of their last six. … Open Door has lost four straight, but some good opponents were mixed in there. The Patriots look to get back on track against Black River. … Westlake falls out of the Crop after losing GLC contests to Elyria Catholic and North Olmsted. The Demons are reeling. … After beating North Ridgeville, it’s time to notice Midview. The Middies struggled to start the season, but are now 6-4 and earned their first conference win.
