Browns star Amari Cooper inactive for Jets game because of heel injury

Browns star receiver Amari Cooper has a sore heel and because of that was placed on the inactive list for the Thursday Night Football game with the Jets at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Cooper did not practice in the days leading up to the game Dec. 28. He tested the heel in pregame warmups, but the decision was made to rest him. The Browns will clinch a playoff spot if they beat the Jets.

Here are the other Browns inactives: Linebacker Anthony Walker Jr., kicker Dustin Hopkins, punter Corey Bojorquez, defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo, center Luke Wypler and defensive end Sam Kamara.

Kicker Riley Patterson and punter Matt Haack were elevated from the Browns practice squad earlier in the day on Dec. 28.

Cooper caught 11 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns on Dec. 24 when the Browns beat the Texans, 36-22. He has 72 catches for 1,250 yards and five touchdowns tis season.
