Just as students return to school after the holiday break, Westlake Porter Public Library, 27333 Center Ridge Road, is unveiling a new reading challenge: 100 Books Before Graduation, according to a news release.
Tailored for students in grades 5-12, the challenge asks them to read 100 books before they graduate, the release said.
Students can log their reading at westlakelibrary.beanstack.org, where they can earn badges and entries into grand drawings pulled quarterly, according to the release.
Those who reach 100 books read, will earn a Westlake Porter Public Library coffee tumbler, the release said.
The challenge began Jan. 2, the release said.
“Whether they move directly into jobs, or continue their education, strong literacy skills will be the key to success for graduating students,” said Library Director Andrew Mangels in the release. “This program is aimed at setting students up for success in their post school life.”
