A Northeast Ohio company that specialized in decluttering, downsizing and moving services for homes and businesses has expanded its services.
OCD (Organize, Clean, Declutter) Home Solutions, based in the Columbia Township and Strongsville area, is serving clients in Amherst and Vermilion, according to its owner.
“I also offer coaching services so we can get to the root of the cause of clutter,” said owner Ericka Peake. “I specialize in the mental aspect of clutter, it’s completely all connected.”
The company said it will simplify life, reduce stress and create a harmonious environment, both at home and in the office.
Peake said she started the business after leaving her job.
She said she realized how some situations in life can lead to disorganization.
“I really just started noticing how clutter is so tied into it, trauma and things that people go through are all directly related to this,” Peake said. “I like helping people get to the other side.”
While Peake offers different services, taking care of extreme clutter is the service most provided.
“The most I do is extreme clutter, like whole houses, where we come in for five days and clean from top to bottom,” she said.
The goal is the same for each client, Peake said, but every situation is different and the road to organization looks different each time.
“I go in and meet with them, see how they are, their lifestyle and habits,” she said “And then we give them a system that’s easy for them to keep up.”
Starting OCD Home Solutions just nine months ago, Peake said this experience has changed her perspective and she is more patient.
“I have a lot more patience, because while I just want to go in and make it better, sometimes we have to stop and really work through what’s happening,” she said.
According to Peake, when she arrives at a client’s house, sometimes she notices how worked up the homeowner is.
“It’s a huge undertaking to let someone into every corner of your home,” she said. “That’s a lot.”
By the end of the service, usually the fifth and final day, Peake said the homeowner looks “lighter and happier.”
“I give them their life back, their home back, their confidence back,” she said. “I love seeing them change.”
Peake said that with the services she provides, she feels more connected with the community and she is able to see people in a different light.
“It’s given me purpose; it’s given me value,” she said. “I just feel like I’m changing people’s lives, and I feel really good about that.”
