Amherst Police Department received emergency calls about both incidents.

No one was struck by gunfire, but there was evidence that at least one of the motorcycles was struck, the news release stated.

Makuch then is accused of gunning down Sukey at 6:18 p.m. near Lake Avenue and Emerson Court in Elyria Township.

Sukey was shot multiple times and died at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

At 6:55 p.m., Makuch was taken in for questioning by sheriff’s deputies at an Elyria residence following a brief investigation.

His next court date has not been scheduled.

Makuch has retained attorney Kenneth Lieux to represent him, according to court records.

Lieux couldn’t be reached for comment Dec. 18.
