Crop comments: After Week 6, Columbia and Avon are the only undefeated teams left. The Eagles 52-10 win over one-loss Olmsted Falls kept them at the Top of the Crop. … Avon Lake had a tough outing against Amherst (3-3). However, the Shoremen pulled out a 32-27 home win. 1. … North Ridgeville took a tough loss to Avon in Week 5, but bounced back with a 35-11 win at Elyria. … The Bulldogs’ loss to Avon, dropped them down to fifth in the crop, and Rocky River moved up to 4. The Pirates’ air raid offense scored more than 40 points in five of their six games, one of which was their 40-3 win over North Olmsted. … Westlake defeated Fairview, 37-25, to bump the Demons up in the crop. … Clearview showcased dominance in its Lorain County League showdown with Wellington, 48-12, to win its fourth game in a row. … Columbia is right with the Clippers, but strength of schedule gives the Clippers a slight edge. The Raiders defeated Oberlin, 34-6. Bay is on the cusp of leapfroging Columbia and Clearview with the way it’s playing. The Rockets pulled through in the fourth quarter to defeat Elyria Catholic, 23-10. Like the Raiders, all of Bay’s wins came against teams with losing records. The one loss was to University School (4-2), 21-17. … Lorain scored its second 40-plus performance, in a 42-16 win over Garfield Heights.
