Crop comments: Following North Ridgeville’s 4-1 win over then No. 5 Olmsted Falls, the Rangers vault into the top spot in the second edition of the 2023 Crop. They now set themselves up with Avon for a No. 1 vs. No. 2 matchup Sept. 6. Get your popcorn ready, folks! … Bay dropped one spot after a narrow loss to Avon Lake on Sept. 2. The losses Bay has dealt with from last year’s squad aren’t insignificant, but Coach Bobby Dougherty’s track record isn’t enough to write the Rockets off. … Following the top three squads are Amherst, Rocky River, which jumped two spots, and Elyria Catholic remaining at No. 6 with a win over Open Door on Sept. 2. … Rounding out the top 10 are Olmsted Falls, Westlake, Lake Ridge and a new entrant to the list, Vermilion. Keystone barely gets knocked out of the top 10 and falls to the watch list after a tie against Firelands.
