Black River Audubon Society to hear from author Holly Merker

The Black River Audubon Society will present “Ornitheraphy: The Power of Birdwatching” by Holly Merker at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Carlisle Reservation Visitor Center, 12882 Diagonal Road in LaGrange.

Using her professional backgrounds in art therapy, 20-plus years of professional bird guiding, and educational background Merker is creating rich sensory experiences through nature-based wellness programs customized for her clients, according to a news release.

She is the author of two books: the award-winning “Ornitherapy: For Your Body, Mind, and Soul” and “The Power of Birdwatching/Die Kraft der Vogel Beobachtung” with Angelika Nelson.

Within the program, she’ll delve into our connections to birds, how to maximize the wellness benefits of birding, and learn about the latest research surrounding the impact of birds on human wellbeing, the release stated.
