The Cleveland Ballet will premier its ninth season with an outdoor performance and reception during its summer residency Aug. 26 at the Harbourtown Fine Arts Center, 736 Main St. in Vermilion, according to a news release.
The evening will commence with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in this historic center followed by a performance of the Cleveland Ballet, according to the release.
Under the artistic direction of Gladisa Guadalupe, this renowned company will perform excerpts from its upcoming fall performance schedule at Playhouse Square on Sept. 22 and 23 with: “Pas de Dix,” from the grand ballet, “Raymonda”; the new and inspiriting “Nocturne” with musical magic by Frederic Chopin; and everyone’s favorite, “Carmen,” danced to the music of Georges Bizet, the release said.
The evening features a special appearance by Valentina Kozlova who is recognized as one of the best interpreters of “Raymonda,” one of the best of all time, according to the release.
Kozlova will share her intimate knowledge and expertise of this masterpiece, the release said.
She will recount her life’s journey in becoming a world-renowned prima ballerina and seeking political asylum in the United States following in the footsteps of Mikhail Baryshnikov, according to the release.
Tickets are $95 for adults and $45 for children age 14 and younger.
Hors d’oeuvres and wine begin at 6 p.m. and the performance follows at 7.
