Two Lorain moms are paving their own futures.
Lorain natives Eliza Gonzalez, 26, and Aliyah Sams, 26, celebrated Aug. 11 the one-year anniversary of their business, The Organized Home Company.
The pair have been best friends since middle school and graduated from Early College in 2015.
“We were stay-at-home moms and found ourselves organizing and cleaning to keep our homes in order, but we realized how much we enjoyed it and found peace in it,” Sams said. “We knew we wanted to create a business, so we can find a way to be present for our kids and partners while still taking care of our responsibilities.”
The business aims to create sustainable systems and methods to help clients declutter.
It offers cleaning and restructuring services to individuals as well as corporate or larger companies.
“We want to know where people are struggling and what made them reach out to us in the first place,” Sams said. “We create customized solutions for them.”
“We’ll always follow up to see how the maintenance is and if anything needs to be adjusted,” Gonzalez said. “The goal is for them to have a space that they don’t have to stress or worry about.”
While the internet glamorizes consumption in regards to organization, the pair said they aim to work within a client’s budget.
“Some people like to buy the bins or larger shelving, while others want to work with what they may already have,” Gonzalez said. “No matter what they choose, we include those products and installations in the process to create something they’re satisfied with.
“Making a system is hard and time consuming, but we enjoy the work that we do and like bringing peace into the lives of those who need it.”
Gonzalez said she loves the vulnerability that accompanies their services.
“We’re going through spaces that include memories from different aspects of our client’s lives,” she said. “Oftentimes they share their stories with us and we walk away as really good friends.”
As the business continues to expand, Sams said it’s important for them to be good role models to their children.
“We’re so grateful to have reached this milestone, but we know there’s still room for us to grow and elevate our business,” Sams said. “It’s most important for our kids to see their moms doing something they love, even when it isn’t always easy.”
