Outlook
Wellington battled injury last season and hung around in conference play despite of it. The younger players made the most of it by getting experience they never would have had. With a good mix of returners and newcomers, the Dukes look to rise up the LC8 ranks.
Player to watch
After being limited to a few games last season, Devan Diedrick returns for his senior season. He will start at fullback and defensive end for the Dukes, and will be a force to be reckoned with on both sides of the ball.
Underclassman to watch: Quarterback Landon Wright got thrown into the fire as a sophomore last season and he didn’t look back. Now with a full offseason as the starting quarterback, he’s looking to have a breakout year.
Bottom line
IF: The new offensive line can mesh together, THEN: Wellington can get the ball in the hands of its productive skill players
