Outlook

Graduated Wildcats Konner Rodick and Ryne Shackelford present huge voids to fill, but Keystone comes into the season with more experience on the offensive line. That will be major for new quarterback Zach Shackelford and quality athletes at the skill positions. Keystone hopes to use the athleticism on the defensive end of the ball.

Player to watch

Senior Caden Johnson will return as a second-year starter on the offensive line. He will also play defensive end and provides a consistent impact in the trenches. Johnson has endured multiple injuries, but his offseason training has prepared him to be effective.

Underclassman to watch: Junior Zach Shackelford is a Division V All-Ohioan selection and the younger brother of highly accomplished Wildcats Ryne and Jacob. That was at wide receiver. He’ll transition to quarterback, as he had experience with taking snaps. Keystone’s best playmakers will have the ball to initiate every play.

Bottom Line

IF: The Wildcats can follow Shackelford’s lead, THEN: Keystone should be able to contend with the LC8’s elite teams.
