LCCC Wellington Center announces upcoming programs

The Lorain County Community College Wellington Center, 151 Commerce Drive in Wellington, has announced a series of events open to the public, according to a news release.

Wellington Kiwanis Club is collecting school supplies until Aug. 10 at various Wellington locations, including LCCC – Wellington Center.

Cardio drumming

Cardio drumming is an aerobic workout that uses a bucket, ball and drumsticks.

Classes are open to adults of all fitness levels; modifications will be shown if needed.

The workouts take place from 5:30-6:15 p.m., or 6:20-7:20 p.m., Mondays, and 6-7 p.m., Wednesdays.

Neighborhood Alliance Mobile Senior Program

Neighborhood Alliance and LCCC Wellington are working together to offer socialization, activities, healthy lunches and more for all older adults from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays.

Supportive service staff will be there to meet needs such as benefits assistance, rent and/or utility assistance, or help set up other community resources.

Fiber arts workshops

Knitters and those who crochet can bring their projects and work on them at the Wellington Center at 10 a.m., Tuesdays.

An experienced knitter will be available to offer help and instruction from 10-11 a.m.

Some knitting supplies will be available.

Mexican Train Dominoes game training

Mexican Train Dominoes will take place at 1 p.m., Thursdays, except the third Thursday of the month.

No experience is necessary.

Bingo Bash

Sprenger Healthcare Elms Retirement Village and LCCC Wellington are teaming up to offer bingo at 1 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month.

This is a free event for all ages

Chair yoga

Chair yoga is a practice that is beneficial for all ages.

Benefits of chair yoga include increased mobility, strength, flexibility and relaxation, as well as stress and pain reduction.

Chairs will be provided.

A a 10-week session will start Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. on Thursdays.

No registration required.

All of the events will take place in rooms 119/120.
