On Oct. 3 at Springvale Golf Course in North Olmsted, four area girls golfers qualified for the Division I district tournament.
Avon’s Madigan O’Leary, Avon Lake’s Sarah Quayle and Rocky River’s Chole Holton and Mia Ginnetti were individual qualifiers for next week’s D-I district tournament at Brookledge Golf Club on Oct. 11.
O’Leary was the highest finisher among individual qualifiers not on a qualifying team. She finished eighth and carded a 77 with a 40 on the front 9 and a 37 on the back.
Quayle was 10th with a 79 — 37 on the front, 42 on the back.
Rocky River was fifth and missed qualifying by one stroke with a 345 to fourth-place Strongsville’s 344.
Leading the way for the Pirates were Holton, who was 13th with an 81, and Ginnetti, who carded an 82.
Magnificat was the sectional champion with a 287. Cara Heisterkamp was the medalist with an impressive 67.
Avon Lake was sixth with a 356 and Avon seventh with a 360.
Olmsted Falls (403), Bay (413), Westlake (425), North Ridgeville (428) and Midview (451) were ninth through 13th. The top golfer among that group was Olmsted Falls’ Ella Atkins (86).
