On a night where they tied their franchise high for goals in a game, the Cleveland Monsters were unable to finish the job as they lost to the Belleville Senators in a three-round shootout, 8-7, on Nov. 16.

The Monsters started the game with a pair of goals from Cole Fonstad and Jona Luoto before Belleville responded with a pair of their own in the first period.

After the first intermission, Trey Fix-Wolanski gave Cleveland the lead back and Samuel Knazko followed suit as the lead grew to two goals. But Belleville battled back into the game, this time to the tune of three goals and it had a 5-4 lead going to the third.

Fix-Wolanski recorded his second goal of the game to tie it at 5 and a Justin Richards deflection gave the Monsters back the lead. After Belleville tied the score again, Fonstad added his second that tied the franchise record.

The Senators tied it late in the third and sent the game to an overtime that was scoreless and headed to a shootout. After both scored in the first round, the Monsters couldn’t find the back of the net while the Senators did.

Cleveland continues their road trip when at Laval for a pair of games with the Rockets starting on Nov. 18.
