The citizens of Sheffield Lake elected attorney Rocky Radeff as the city’s next mayor on Nov. 7.
According to unofficial results from the Lorain County Board of Elections, Radeff defeated incumbent Mayor Dennis Bring, 1,885 to 1,089.
Radeff received 63.38 percent of the vote compared to 36.6 percent for Bring.
Radeff, 31, has served as both an attorney and as Sheffield Lake Ward 2 Councilman for the past six years.
After learning of his victory, Radeff said that he had a good feeling going in.
He said he was confident following the city primary, and was glad that Sheffield Lake’s voter base agreed with his vision for the city.
“One thing that I’m really proud of is, I said going in, I don’t care if I win or lose; I want to be a different person when I started this,” Radeff said. “I stuck to that.
“I think Sheffield Lake is just ready to move on, and hopefully, we can start moving forward.”
Radeff said that at 31 years old, he feels prepared for the challenges of being mayor.
While young, he said that his age does not speak to his level of experience.
“Age doesn’t mean you’re not qualified,” Radeff said. “I’ve been working for a city since I came out of college.
“You learn a lot. I’ve been on City Council for six years. I’ve lived in Sheffield for my whole life, and part of it is just kind of knowing who to ask the right questions to.”
Radeff outlined his first 100 days in office, which will start in 2024.
Throughout his campaign, Radeff said he preached communication and transparency with the public, which will be a large part of city operations going forward.
“I think the first thing is going in and evaluating people in the city,” he said. “I think going in, and evaluating, and seeing who really wants to be there, and making sure everyone understands what I expect, and what’s going to be expected from my administration.”
Radeff is a graduate of Brookside High School, Westminster College and Cleveland State University’s law school.
