With the help of some very generous donations this year, the Lorain County Deputies Association was able to provide over $27,000 in Christmas gifts to children in Lorain County, according to a news release.
Shopping was conducted by off‐duty deputies and their family members at various stores, including Meijer’s in Avon and Target in Elyria, the release said.
The Lorain County Deputies Association donated to the following programs:
• The Lorain Salvation Army Angel Tree ‐ $22,600 in gifts for approximately 440 youngsters.
• Avon Police Hometown Hero’s ‐ $1,500 in gift cards and shopping event.
• Not Forgotten Box ‐ $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered.
• Toys for Tots ‐ $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered.
• Boys & Girls Club Elyria ‐ $1,000 in toys purchased and delivered for 56 youngsters.
The Lorain County Deputies Association received the following donations to help make this possible:
Ross Environmental Services Inc. ‐ $10,000; Bill and Chris Cromling ‐ $8,000; Lorain County Blue ‐ $1,000; Eleven 10 ‐ $500; Lorain County AFL/CIO ‐ $500; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge James Miraldi ‐ $100; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Melissa Kobasher ‐ $100; Giovanna Bremke for Judge ‐ $100; Robert and Sharon Bennett ‐ $100; Lorain County Probate Judge Jim Walther ‐ $50; Dawn Walther for Recorder ‐ $50; Lorain County Common Pleas Judge D. Chris Cook ‐ $50; and Lorain County Commissioner Michelle Hung ‐ $50.
This was the largest holiday gift giveaway the (Lorain County Deputies Association) has ever been able to do, the release said.
