St. Mary Parish, 320 Middle Ave. in Elyria, is preparing to host another community meal on Christmas Day.
St. Mary discipleship coordinator Joyce Snyder said meals like this, that the church also does on Thanksgiving and Easter, is about giving back to the community.
“We’re just trying to bring the community together to bring kindness and fellowship with no price tag on it and no judging,” Snyder said.
The Christmas Day meal will take place from noon to 2:30 p.m. and will be available for people to sit down and eat or take food home with them, she said.
Delivery is an option, but only available in Elyria, Snyder said.
People can make reservations for that by calling the Parish Office at 440-323-5530.
Snyder said the church has 36 different bakers who make goods for the event and also has over 100 volunteers.
She said people from all over the community, not just members of St. Mary, volunteer for these dinners.
“Taking care of each other is what we need to do instead of being critical,” Snyder said.
Snyder asks that volunteers sign up ahead of time and not just show up at the event so the work can be divided up efficiently.
People interested in volunteering can contact Snyder by email at st.marydisciple@gmail.com and by phone at 440-775-1967.
St. Mary Parish also is hosting Christmas Eve masses at 4 p.m. and 10 p.m., as well as 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Christmas Day.
