National Alliance on Mental Illness Lorain County will host its NAMI Basics educational class beginning Sept. 13 and ending Oct. 19, according to a news release.
The class will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the NAMI of Lorain County office, 6125 S. Broadway in Lorain.
The class also will be available virtually on the ZOOM platform, according to the release.
NAMI Basics is a weekly six-session education program for parents, caregivers and other loved ones who provide care for minor children who are experiencing mental health symptoms, the release said.
This program is free to participants, 99% of whom say they would recommend the program to others, according to the release.
This course is taught by a trained team with lived experience in raising a child with a mental health condition, the release said.
The team knows what parents and caregivers are going through because they’ve been there, too, according to the release.
To register or inquire, call NAMI Lorain County at 440-240-8477 or email office@nami-lc.org.
“NAMI Basics not only provides information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you’ll also find out that you are not alone,” the release said. “The group setting of NAMI Basics provides mutual support and shared positive impact experiences, compassion and reinforcement from people who understand your situation.
“Sharing your own experience may help others in your class.”
