On the course: Irwin braved the elements on Aug. 26 to win the individual title at the GLC Preview. The senior ran a time of 20:38 on a muddy course and led the Demons to the team title.
Ethan Meier

On the field: On back-to-back possessions against Fairview, Meier accomplished a rare feat with two pick-sixes in a row. The big plays guided the Raiders to a 41-27 road win on Aug. 25. He also picked up nine tackles. Playing quarterback on offense, he went 7-9 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
Off the field: Nicknamed “Bob,” Meier also plays basketball for Columbia. His favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his favorite players are TJ Watt and Peyton Manning.
Olivia Mogyordy

On the court: The Demons only had one game last week, but Mogyordy made it count in the sweep win over Normandy on Aug. 24. In just three sets, the senior had 16 kills, 23 digs and two aces.
Off the court: Mogyordy will be playing volleyball at John Carroll University. She loves spending time with her family and friends, as well as her teammates on and off the court. Her favorite sports memory is winning the GLC title in 2021. Mogyordy enjoys reading, her favorite food is fettuccine alfredo and favorite subject is science.
Livia Penton

On the pitch: Penton etched her name into the Vermilion record books as the Sailors’ all-time leading goal scorer. In a 2-1 win over Fairview on Aug. 26, she tallied her 77th and 78th career goals to break it. That was only the end of her big week, as she scored three goals in a 5-0 win over Elyria, and scored the team’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Perkins.
Off the pitch: Penton will play soccer in college, but is uncommitted at this time. Her nickname is “Liv,” and her favorite sports memory is winning the Stillman Cup as a freshman. The senior enjoys reading and her favorite subject is language arts. Her favorite food is buffalo chicken dip, favorite movie is “Fight Club” and favorite sports team is Liverpool.
Ty Perez

On the course: At last weekend’s GlenOak Invitational on Aug. 26, Perez finished in second place out of 218 runners for a time of 16:12. With his performance, the Comets came in third place out of 27 teams.
Off the course: Perez plans to run in college, but is uncommitted. He enjoys running and his favorite hobby is training. He also likes basketball and his favorite team is the Cavaliers.
Jimmy Rosol

On the field: Rosol did it all for the Bulldogs in their 33-21 win over Brunswick on Aug. 25. He had a good day passing from his quarterback spot with 129 yards and a touchdown on seven completions. The junior also showed off his dual-threat ability with nine carries for 139 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Off the field: A three-sport athlete, Rosol also plays basketball and runs track. His favorite sports memory is coming back to beat Avon his freshman year. When he’s not competing in sports, he enjoys playing guitar and drawing. His favorite food is a burrito bowl from Chipotle.
Cooper Rummel

Senior>>WR/CB
On the field: Rummel made plays on both sides of the ball for Westlake in its win over Rhodes. He caught seven passes for 70 yards on offense, and picked off two passes on defense. One of them was returned for a touchdown.
Mia Scanlon
Amherst>>Volleyball
Sophomore>>OH
On the court: Scanlon had a strong week to lead Amherst to two conference wins over Midview and Berea-Midpark. In seven sets played between the two games, she put up 26 kills, 18 digs, 10 serve receptions and four blocks.
Off the court: Scanlon’s favorite sports memory is when the Comets came back from 2-0 last season to win the district final in five sets. Her favorite sports team is the Guardians.
