NAMI Lorain County to host free mental health wellness event

The National Alliance on Mental Illness Lorain County announced the next event in the continuing Health and Wellness series is “Healing Qigong with Coach Annamarie,” according to a news release.

This free event will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Sept. 13, at the Amy H. Levin Learning and Conference Center, 1165 North Ridge Road in Sheffield Township.

Qigong, pronounced Chee-gong, is the practice of energy cultivation and will be discussed during the event, according to the release.

It is an ancient Chinese exercise that promotes optimal health, vitality and longevity, the release said.

The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality and enhance the immune system, according to the release.

It also has been found to increase cardiovascular, lymphatic and digestive functions, the release said.

Transportation to the event can be provided at no cost for those who wish to attend, according to the release.
