• Austin DeShazo’s field goal with no time remaining on the clock was the game-winner as visiting North Ridgeville rallied to defeat North Royalton, 20-17, on Sept. 1.

The Rangers improved to 3-0 on the season and look to improve to 4-0 on Sept. 8 at Olmsted Falls.

North Ridgeville trailed, 17-7, at halftime but rallied to tie the game in the fourth quarter on Zach Barnhart’s TD run.

After tying the game, the Rangers’ defense made a big play when it recovered a fumble by Royalton and took possession with 1:42 remaining in the game.

• Ben Montgomery scored three touchdowns to lead host Brookside to a 28-13 win over Fairview.

Montgomery scored on runs of 32, 26 and 38 yards. Tyler Kitzberger scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter.

• Amherst improved to 2-1 on the season with a 41-13 win at North Olmsted as Cole Norris threw a TD and ran for two more scores.

J.R. Birds added a 16-yard TD run, and kicker Maddie Gates made a field goal.

• Ethan Lorenzana ran for two TDs as Clearview improved to 2-1 this season with a 34-6 win over John Hay.

Isaac Dandrea added a defensive touchdown on a fumble recovery.

• In other games, Vermilion improved to 2-1 on the season with a 49-20 win over Willard, and Elyria lost at Akron East, 35-0.
