Five days after Bob Barker’s death at the age of 99, CBS will honor the longtime TV host, who graced television airwaves for five decades.

CBS announced Tuesday that it will broadcast the one-hour special, “The Price Is Right: A Tribute to Bob Barker,” on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m. ET.

The network said the special will feature priceless moments from Barker’s half-century on television, including his first and final episodes of “The Price Is Right,” his first time introducing the Plinko game, and his emotional announcement that the show’s soundstage had been renamed the Bob Barker Studio.

Viewers will also see video montages of emotional “Price Is Right” contestants and funny mishaps from Barker’s tenure on the game show, CBS’s press release added.

Plus, the special will feature a clip from CBS’ 2007 celebration of Barker’s career, in which the TV host’s “Happy Gilmore” co-star Adam Sandler paid homage to the star with a poem titled “Ode to Bob Barker.”

Drew Carey — who succeeded Barker as the host of “The Price Is Right” in 2007 following Barker’s 35-year run — will host the tribute special.

“This tribute to the legendary Bob Barker will bring back great memories for generations of ‘The Price Is Right’ fans who loved Bob, his humor, his ability to connect with contestants and his innate talent for making the most out of every moment,” said Margot Wain, SVP of daytime programs.

“Bob was one-of-a-kind; he’ll be remembered as an extraordinary host, a devoted animal activist, and, as he would put it, ‘a loyal friend and true,’” Wain continued. “We’re so pleased to be able to salute his many accomplishments and honor his memory in this way.”

The special will also stream on Paramount+ and re-air in the “Price Is Right” time slot on Labor Day — Monday, Sept. 4 — at 11 a.m. ET.
