The Crushers spotted visiting Washington one run in the first inning, then cruised to a 5-1 victory on Aug. 10 at Mercy Health Stadium in Avon.

Infielder Kenen Irizarry hit his third home run of the season in the third inning to tie the game at 1-1. In the fourth, John Tuccillo gave the Crushers the lead with an RBI single. They broke the game open in the fifth, thanks to a run-scoring single by Scout Knotts, a sacrifice fly by Josh Rego and a run-scoring hit by Hector Roa.

Tuccillo, Knotts, Roa and Zach Racusin each finished with two hits. Racusin had a double and scored a run.

Starter Yasel Santana struck out seven and walked two in seven innings to earn the win.

Lake Erie (29-46) plays its next three games on the road, at Florence. The Y’alls are in seventh place in the Frontier League West Division, three games ahead of the last-place Crushers.
