LORAIN – Owners of Mid-City Valero, Adnan Nazir and his brother, Ron, showed their community support Aug. 1 by holding a customer appreciation day where residents had the opportunity to enjoy free food and drinks.

Food was given out courtesy of the station, 3217 Oberlin Ave., and local business Grand Wings and Things.

‘We just want to show customers in the area that we really appreciate them, said Brian Daniels, who helped with the event.

‘We do this event every Aug. 1, where we give away free food, clothing and other merchandise,’ Adnan Nazir said. ‘Customers come here all year long and we want them to be happy to do business with us.’

This was the seventh annual appreciation day, Adnan Nazir said.

Food included hotdogs, chicken and waffles, macaroni salad and rice and beans.

Lisa Calhoun, of Lorain, stopped by to try the food.

‘I think it’s fantastic,’ Calhoun said. ‘Everything is free today, and the food was very good.’

‘It’s nice that they are doing this in the community,’ said Richard Barnett, of Lorain. ‘Things like this bring everyone together. It’s nice to see.’
