LORAIN – Lorain County Health and Dentistry will host a series of free community health fairs during National Health Center Week Aug. 11-14 at each of its four locations:
– from 1 to 4 p.m. (story time for children from 2 to 3 p.m.) on Aug. 11 at Lorain County Health and Dentistry, 1205 Broadway
– from 1 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 12 at 114 White Court (Wilkes Villa), Elyria
– from 2 to 4 p.m. on Aug. 13 at 412 E. River St., Elyria
– from 2 to 4 p.m. (with story time from 3 to 4 p.m.) at 3745 Grove Ave., Lorain.
The health fair programs include sickle cell testing, parent management training for Lorain County parents and youth with problem behaviors, blood pressure screenings, blood glucose screenings and discussions on depression and suicide risks.
A representative from the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to discuss the D.A.R.E. Program. Also, a representative from the Lorain Public Library System will host a book giveaway (limited quantities).
For children, the Little Free Library will host a story time.
A Nord Center representative will discuss good mental health to help you lead a happy, new life.
There will also be discussions on smoking cessation and healthy eating and a Walgreens’ pharmacist will be on hand to answer questions from the public.
