ELYRIA – An Elyria man was charged with domestic violence and felonious assault after allegedly choking his wife July 31. Police were detailed to the 900 block of Clark Street due to a reported domestic violence complaint.
Police made contact with the victim who said her husband, 42, got upset while she was preparing dinner and left to Taco Bell. When he returned, he offered her some of his food and she got upset because she was making dinner. They got in a ‘minor’ argument, the report said.
She said her husband was yelling at her when he pushed her into bedroom and began choking and throwing her on the bed, according to police. The victim suffers from Cardiovascular Pulmonary Disease, and therefore immediately started choking due to her already restricted airway, the report said. She was having a continuing problem speaking due to her inability to breathe, and she continued to wretch and choke and was vomiting phlegm.
The victim was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Officers observed redness on her neck, both forearms and slight abrasions on her right wrist and left knee, police said.
The victim told police her husband left the home prior to police’s arrival, and believed he was heading to the 600 block of Cambridge Avenue. An officer responded to that address in an attempt to locate the suspect, according to the report.
