Host Schaumburg jumped to a 4-1 lead after the first inning and cruised to a 9-4 victory over the Crushers on July 27.
Lake Erie starter Zac Treece gave up nine runs, all earned, on 11 hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out two.
Third baseman Anderson Hidalgo drove in two runs for the Crushers, and center fielder Craig Hertler was 3-for-3 with two runs.
The Crushers and Boomers face off again at 6:30 p.m. July 28 at Schaumburg Baseball Stadium.
