LORAIN – Lorain’s finest were out in force during RoverFest 2014 at Black River Landing on July 26.
‘There are 52 Lorain police officers on site at RoverFest,’ Lorain Police Captain Jim McCann said on July 26. ‘An additional 22 Lorain Police Auxiliary are here, as well as 34 Tenable Protective Services officers.’
According to officials at LifeCare Ambulance Inc., the event had about 15 emergency medical technicians in case they would be needed on site.
Lorain Police arrested several people during the event with charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assault on a police officer, said an officer at Lorain City Jail.
Jeremy Easton of Williamsfield, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Shawn Hanzel, a resident of Lorain was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
Daniel Robinson of Lakewood was arrested on charges of assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, obstruction of official business, and resisting arrest.
‘Everything was paid by Rover at RoverFest,’ executive director of the Lorain Port Authority Rick Novak said. ‘The city is being reimbursed for the police presence that was at today’s event. The people at RoverFest will also be in charge of the cleanup and stage breakdown after the show is over.’
