ELYRIA – Six people have been indicted on drug charges after citizens complaints led to an investigation by the Lorain Narcotics Unit.
The following have been indicted: Bryce Giusti, 40, of Lorain, is charged with trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, permitting drug abuse and drug paraphernalia. Karis Hampton, 35, of Lorain, Kevin Arndt, 42, of North Ridgeville, Anthony Ramos, 28, of Elyria, Ann Bryant, 43, of Lorain, and Connie Jones, 41, of Lorain, are all charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Detective Michael Gidich has said that neighbors of Giusti began calling police in April after witnessing what they said was alleged drug activity and prostitution in and near the apartment complex at 1058 Oberlin Ave., Apt. 5.
Police went to Giusti’s home about 1 p.m. May 14 and found him and five other individuals engaging in drug activity, prompting a search warrant, Detective Howard Heathcoat said.
Inside the apartment, officers found the six suspects.
When officers approached a back bedroom, Arndt, Ramos and Bryant were found allegedly smoking crack cocaine, Gidich said.
Gidich alleges Giusti allowed Hampton to sell narcotics while he stayed in the apartment and provided a place for the others to use drugs.
Police seized more than 10 grams of crack cocaine, $700 in cash, drug paraphernalia and items used to traffic narcotics, Gidich said.
Giusti and Hampton were arrested and charged May 14, while the remaining four were released pending laboratory results of the paraphernalia confiscated from the home, Heathcoat said.
