ELYRIA – Accused killer Jeane Harrington has pleaded not guilty to the August 2011 murder of her husband, Michael Gabel, 55. Harrington, is set for a pretrial July 30 in the Lorain County Common Pleas courtroom of Judge Raymond Ewer. Harrington, 56, has been charged with murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence, Avon Lake prosecutor John Reulbach has said. County Coroner Dr. Stephen Evans hs ruled Gabel’s cause of death was asphyxiation and that he had suffered blunt force trauma and electrical burns. At 11:29 a.m., Aug. 16, 2011, Harrington called Avon Lake police and stated that her husband was dead. When officers responded to the couple’s home at 33400 Karen Drive, they found Gabel on a sofa in the rear of the residence. Inside the home, officers found Gabel, Harrington and their 11-year-old son, Avon Lake police Chief Duane Streator has said. Gabel was found partially clothed with ‘restaurant-sized, Saran-brand type’ plastic wrap bound tightly around his head and electrical burn marks on his body, Streator said. Harrington told police she had not seen her husband since 2 a.m., and when she returned home from running errands, she found him dead. Related:
