Amherst 13U softball wins Westshore League Championship, 20-9

It has been quite the summer for the Amherst 13U softball team. On July 20, Amherst 13U, which is classified as Major League Fastpitch Softball, won the Westshore League Championship, defeating the Avon Lake Gold, 20-9. In the 14-team league, Amherst finished 15-0-1, with the tie coming against Avon Lake in the regular season. It is the second-straight year that the Amherst13U won the league championship. Out of the three teams from the Amherst City League that are part of the Westshore League, the Amherst 13U also had the best record at 12-0-1 before heading into the playoffs. On the season, the combined team batting average was .565, on-base percentage was .713 and each of the 14 girls on the roster stole home plate successfully.
