ELYRIA – The first-ever Elyria Art Fest will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Elyria Art Depot, 336 Broad St., and the green space next to the gallery.
Antonio Barrios, president of Lorain Arts Council, said the Elyria Art Fest will feature an outdoor display of the murals Elyria artists have created and a diversity mural painted by the YWCA Smart Girls Camp, whose members spent an afternoon at the Elyria Art Depot guided and mentored by members of the Lorain Arts Council.
‘We also want to engage the community in creating a mural that will be painted by visitors of the Art Fest,’ Barrios said.
‘For a $1 donation, you will be able to paint a square that will be part of an impressionist creation,’ Barrios said.
There will also be a variety of musical entertainment featured.
‘We have already proven in the city of Lorain that the arts can spark economic development,’ Barrios said. ‘Since we opened the Lorain arts council, a coffee house, a designer clothier and a second gallery have opened,’ Barrios said.
Gallery 737 and Lorain Art Center hours are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. Elyria Art Depot hours are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
