Crushers end three-game skid with 2-1 win over Gateway

Starter Darrien Ragins and five relievers held Gateway to seven singles, and the Crushers beat the Grizzlies, 2-1, on Aug. 19 at Mercy Health Stadium in Avon.

Lake Erie ended a three-game losing streak.

Ragins pitched four scoreless innings. He struck out three and walked two and lowered his ERA to 2.01. He made his second start in 37 appearances this season. Cal McAninch, Shane Gustafson, Sam Frontino, Trevor Kuncl and Yasel Santana each pitched a scoreless inning. Santana earned his first save in his second relief appearance of the season.

Josh Rego had two hits, including an RBI single that gave the Crushers a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jackson Pritchard added a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Lake Erie faces Gateway one more time on Aug. 20. The Crushers then travel to Florence for three games, followed by their final homestand of the season Aug. 25-27.
