Grant served at Elyria Catholic with former Ohio State players Troy Smith and Head Coach Chase Farris.
In their first season, Elyria Catholic went 3-7 (1-4 in the Great Lakes Conference West).
Grant, the owner and head trainer of Akron’s Very Own LCC, has coached more than 200 athletes. He also directed training for Raw Talent Sports and coaches at Rivals Five Star Challenge, Nike Football and NXGN All-American Showcase camps.
“We as a committee unanimously believed that Doran (Grant) was the best candidate to be the next head football coach for the Fighting Irish,” St. Vincent-St. Mary President Mark Butterworth said. “His dedication to the St. Vincent-St. Mary community, the city of Akron, energy and drive will bring the football program to be high atop a hill in Akron once again.”
He will be the 10th coach in the program’s history.
