James Lavern Kimbrough III, wanted in connection with the shooting death of a mother for four, has been arrested. He has been wanted since January.
Kimbrough was arrested around 7 a.m. April 16 by his bonding agent, TBonds, and is being held at the Lorain County Jail, according to the U.S. Marshals office and Sheffield Police.
“I’m happy he’s off the streets,” said Sheffield Police Lt. Aaron Bober, who has been investigating the case.
Kimbrough is accused of shooting Milenna Lopez, 24, while she was sitting in her car at the Sheffield Village McDonald’s restaurant Jan. 6. Lopez was working as a manager for the company and was taking a mid-morning break when she was shot, Sheffield Village Police have said.
He was charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting, Bober said.
Several government agencies as well as a Lorain bondsman have been attempting to locate Kimbrough, offering rewards and the promise of anonymity for tips on his whereabouts.
The high dollar reward offered by TBonds was probably what got the tips coming into the bondsman, said Bober.
While TBonds didn’t divulge where the tip came from, the bondsman told authorities he arrested Kimbrough at an apartment on Shaffer Drive, on the west side of Lorain, Bober said.
Kimbrough is also facing charges of domestic violence, kidnapping, aggravated burglary and endangering children, stemming from a July 7, 2021, incident in Lorain, according to Lorain County Common Pleas Court records.
Lorain Police said the department was unable to release any information on April 16 regarding that case.
A fundraising benefit for Lopez’s children is scheduled for June 5 at The Pavilion at St. Lad’s, 4221 Clinton Ave., Lorain, according to a Facebook post released on the page Justice for Milenna.
